New Technology to Help Community's Health

ROCKY MOUNTAIN WELLNESS INTRODUCES
NEW TECHNOLOGY TO THE COMMUNITY

In an effort to provide the best care available to our community, Dr. Jeff Albright of Rocky Mountain Wellness recently introduced new STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY. The Electro Meridian Imaging IV is the newest technology available for acupuncture.

The Electro Meridian Imaging IV assists in detection of interferences in the acupuncture system by measuring physiologic activity. According to Dr. Albright, this state of the art technology objectively analyzes the function of the acupuncture meridians. This additional painless testing enhances Dr. Albright in gathering information about your energy in the acupuncture system. The EMI IV will safely and accurately document and monitor the health of the 12 main meridians in acupuncture. It substantially assists the doctor in fashioning individual based care plans for recovery.

Professional athletes who depend on their bodies realize the important role their electric impulses in their nervous and acupuncture systems play in allowing them to function at peak efficiency. “Don’t we all want our bodies to function as best as it possibly can?” asks Dr. Albright. “I am very excited to bring this high level of technology, which professional and world class athletes use to my patients.”

In introducing this technology to the community, Dr. Albright is offering a consultation and screening with the EMI IV. This technology is now available in both his Denver/Cherry Creek and Castle Rock offices. To schedule an appointment or request more information, call Rocky Mountain Wellness at 303-322-5015. Your new knowledge about your health will further support your community. Dr. Albright looks forward to meeting you.

ADHD & OMEGA-3's

ADHD SYMPTOMS IMPROVE WITH OMEGA FATTY ACID SUPPLEMENTS
A study appearing in the Journal of Developmental and Behavioural Pediatrics indicates that omega-3 fish oil might alleviate the symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The study by researchers at the University of South Australia involved 132 children suffering from ADHD and lasted for 30 weeks. All the children were aged between 7 and 12 years.

During the first 15 weeks, researchers split the children into three groups and assigned them to receive either an omega-3 supplement, omega-3 plus a multivitamin, or a placebo in the form of palm oil capsules. After this, each child was given omega-3 and the multivitamins for the remaining 15 weeks.

Researchers said over 50 percent of the children taking omega-3 for the entire 30 weeks had considerable improvements in symptoms like hyperactivity, impulsivity and inattention. However, multivitamins showed no benefits in ADHD, the researchers said.

When the placebo group was switched over to omega-3, all children showed improvements in ADHD symptoms, the researchers added.

Reacting to the study, Philip Calder, professor of nutritional immunology at the University of Southampton said it was further evidence that omega-3 fatty acids were important in ADHD.

“The results of this latest trial add to the growing body of evidence showing that children with attention problems can benefit from increased intake of certain fatty acids,” he added.

POSTURE PROBLEMS FACE YOUTH OF TODAY!

Latest research shows that an alarming number of young people are suffering from back pain problems. Even more astounding is that a great number of them don’t even care!

According to the latest numbers collected by the British Chiropractic Association (BCA), 50% of those surveyed in the 16 to 24 year-old age group are currently suffering from back pain. Only three years ago, the number with back pain in a similar survey totaled only 18%.

The British, much like their American counterparts, have a lifestyle that is increasingly sedentary. Add to that the problem of slouching in a position of bad posture, often while spending large amounts of time in front of computer screens, and the possibility of trouble with the back is greatly compounded.

Interestingly, many of these very same young people have already been warned of their bad posture, but this has had little effect on many of them in making a change to their lifestyles. Of those told of their problem in this survey, 22% were not bothered and another
29% haven’t done anything about it.

While choosing not to worry, young people should really have a reason to be concerned for their future. Figures released by the BCA show that back pain causes 40% of the people in the country to struggle to get a good night’s rest. Some 14% miss social events because of back pain. For 15%, it has a negative impact on their sex life. As these young people age, there are even more reasons to be concerned with good posture: For example, 60% of job interviewers are put off by bad posture.

When questioned about the cause of their poor posture, 62% of respondents blamed slouching or being tired, 44% blamed seating, 38% chose to slouch when they relax, while 8% retreat to a bad posture when they are feeling shy or embarrassed.

In response to this problem of increasing proportions, the BCA is promoting a new campaign to help everyone to strengthen their spines and improve their posture. A three minute exercise program entitled “Straighten Up UK” comes in video form over the Internet. It is easy to follow and easy to do. The program is available for viewing and
doing at: www.chiropractic-uk.co.uk.

If it’s good for the British youth, it could have a very positive effect on American youth as well. Proper posture is definitely a good thing to promote and practice on both sides of the Atlantic.

SITTING BACK MAY BE BETTER THAN SITTING UP!

Anyone who has ever been “yelled at” or reprimanded for poor posture for preferring
a “slouching” position to sitting up straight may find something of interest in this
most recent research into correct sitting.

Researchers in Aberdeen, Scotland, lead by a doctor working out of a Canadian
hospital determined that the “slouching” position may actually be far better for the
back and spine than the “sit up straight” position most of us learned in school. Dr.
Waseem Bashir of the Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging at the
University of Alberta Hospital in Canada lead the study.

MRI studies were performed on 22 volunteers placed in three different sitting positions.

The MRIs were examined to measure spinal angles plus spinal disk height and
movement across the different positions. It was determined that excessive disk movement indicated a potential for problems.

According to the findings, the relaxed position of 135 degrees was determined to
be the best as it created the least amount of movement or stress. The 90 degree,
upright position was proclaimed the worst. “Sitting in a sound anatomic position is
essential since the strain put on the spine and its associated ligaments over time can lead to pain, deformity and chronic illness,” said Dr. Bashir.

“We are not created to sit down for long hours,” added Dr. Bashir. “But somehow
modern life requires the vast majority of the global population to work in a seated
position. This made our search for the optimal sitting position all the more important.”

KID'S WHEELED SHOES & INJURIES

Have you ever almost been run over by a child rolling along seemingly out of
control on shoes with wheels?

The popularity of these shoes and the safety hazards they have been known to cause has lead some shopping mall proprietors to outlaw them in their stores. Some 4 million pairs of these “wheeled shoes” have been sold, so that puts a lot of kids out
there who could either injure themselves or others.

Recently, the American Chiropractic Association took a look at these shoes in
terms of how they can actually cause problems for children. The most obvious cause
of injury would be falls suffered while on the skating shoes. Injuries to the head,
wrist, elbow and ankle are the most common. With the wheels in the back of the
shoes, skaters are forced to lean back to make them perform properly and can easily
lose their balance.

Problems can also occur for children in a less obvious manner, and this has to do
with the way they are forced to walk on the “shoes with wheels” when they are not
rolling along. According to Dr. Steven Conway, a member of the American
Chiropractic Association, “When wearing the shoes on a surface that isn’t skatable,
children must walk on their toes. This altered gait forces their posture into unnatural positions, and if worn regularly for walking, this could potentially cause strain on growing bodies, especially in the foot, ankle and lower back.”

Some tips for safe use of the “wheeled shoes” would include: wearing safety
equipment like helmets, wrist guards, elbow and knee pads. Shoes should be worn
for recreation only with wheels removed when using them as sneakers. Of course,
children should be aware of their surroundings and pedestrians when skating.
Should an injury occur or painful situations develop from skating, parents would
be wise to take their child to a chiropractor for an evaluation of their neuromuscular skeletal system. Children may actually suffer some of the pains experienced by higher level athletes when they skate. A visit to a chiropractor may go a long way to help their young bodies develop properly.

5,400 YEAR OLD ORIGIN OF ACUPUNCTURE FOUND

STUDY OF 5,400 YEAR OLD “ICE MAN” MUMMY FINDS
ACUPUNCTURE TATTOOS MATCHING HIS AILMENTS
A 5,400-year-old mummified man found in 1991 in a melting glacier in the mountains of
Northern Italy bears a complicated system of bluish-black tattoos running along his back, right knee and left ankle, in the form of simple stripes or crosses that closely match Acupuncture locations.

Although the discovery of the oldest preserved human being ever found has had tremendous archaeological value, the tattoos so intrigued scientific investigators that experts from three Acupuncture societies were asked to examine the locations of the tattoos.

Nine tattoos were identified as being located directly on, or within six millimeters of, traditional Acupuncture points. Two more were located on an Acupuncture Meridian. One tattoo was used as a local point. The remaining three tattoos were situated between 6-13mm from the closest Acupuncture point, but later studies revealed that the mummy’s skin had been twisted by pressure from the glacier, which could mean these tattoos were actually exactly on the Acupuncture points.

This could mean that Acupuncture was practiced more than 2,000 years before its supposed origins in China, and in a different part of the world.
Tattoos Match Mummy’s Physical Problems Even more amazing, studies of the ice man’s body reveal that the tattooed Acupuncture points are those that would treat his major ailments. Forensic studies show he suffered from arthritis in the hip joints, knees, ankles and lumbar spine, and nine of the mummy’s 15 tattoos are located on the meridian commonly associated with treating back pain. In fact, one of the mummy’s crossshaped tattoos is located on point UB60, which is considered by several texts a “master point forback pain.”

Forensic analysis also revealed that his intestines were filled with whipworm eggs, which can cause severe abdominal pain. Five tattoos corresponded with points that are traditionally used to treat stomach disorders. “The fact that corresponding groups of points were marked by tattoos, not randomly selected points, seems especially intriguing,” the researchers noted. “From an acupuncturist’s viewpoint,
the combination of points selected represents a meaningful therapeutic regimen.”
“Taken together,” the scientists added, “the tattoos could be viewed as a medical report from the stone age, or possibly as a guide to self-treatment marking where to puncture when pains occur.”

Named Otz, after the valley in which it was discovered, the mummy was remarkably well preserved,as were most of his clothing, tools and weapons. Scientist have examined the mummy’s remains thoroughly, learning much about the everyday life of ancient Europeans.

CDC: AUTISM RATES RISING ACROSS USA, NEW JERSEY FAR HIGHER THAN OTHER STATES!

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has released its first study of the number of 8-year-old children diagnosed with autism in selected areas of 14 states across the country, and the numbers are disturbingly higher than expected.

The report includes statistics gathered in 2000 and 2002 covering nearly 600,000 8- year-old children, or nearly 15% of all 8-year-olds in the country. The report shows overall autism prevalence averaging 6.6 per 1000 children (1 in 150), although the statistics varied
widely from area to area. For example, in Alabama it was 3.3 per 1000, in Georgia and Utah around 7.5 per 1000, and in New Jersey, the worst state, it was 9.9 out of 1000 8-year-olds with some form of autism.

Autism strikes roughly three times as many boys as girls, and seems to have no preference for white, black or Hispanic children. New cases diagnosed nationally have been estimated at 67 every day, with an estimated cost to society of about $35 billion a year.

An earlier survey in the 1980s by UCLA and the University of Utah found about one child in every 2500 in Utah with autism, much lower than the new statistics of 7.5 per 1000.

Kim Moody, former director of the Autism Society of Utah, told the Salt Lake City Standard-Examiner that the number of children diagnosed in the state with autism has “steadily increased” since the 1980s.

Psychiatrists and psychologists in the field generally claim that the increased prevalence is due to better diagnosis. But even taking that into account, Moody told the newspaper, there is still “a huge increase” in the overall number of kids diagnosed with autism. “If this
were some other type of disease, they would call this an epidemic,” Moody said.

The Children’s Health Act of 2000 authorized CDC to create the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network. Since the network’s inception, CDC has funded programs in 16 sites covering 17 states—Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Utah, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are considered by the medical profession to be lifelong developmental disabilities. However, some alternative approaches, including nutritional and other therapies, have had success with reversing the symptoms of autism.

ACUPUNCTURE GIVES WOMAN HER LIFE BACK

Life in general was becoming a real pain in the. . .back and the hips and the knees for a 73-year-old British woman. The discomfort had been going on for some time, but it really hit home one Christmas Day.

“My youngest grandchild was 4 years old and he couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t play with him on the floor on Christmas Day,” said Maureen Vine. It was just too painful. The terrible pain in my ankle spread to my foot and I could barely walk.”

Acupuncture was something she’d never really considered during her 30-odd years of suffering through a painful condition diagnosed as osteoarthritis. The symptoms that mainly affected her back, hips and knees over the years were now spreading to her right ankle. This caused pain and limping, greatly reducing her ability to move or
even to continue with short walks in the park she cherished.

Over the years she had tried physiotherapy, but with little relief. A stomach condition prohibited most types of medication. Most recently, her doctor had prescribed CodydramolTM, a pain reducer she was able to tolerate, but even 8 tablets a day brought little to no relief.

Finally, almost completely housebound, Maureen decided to give Acupuncture a try. “My son had recently tried Acupuncture for his arthritic shoulder and he said that it had worked wonders. Although I knew nothing about it and was a bit skeptical, I was willing to try anything. So I asked my doctor for a referral.”

Maureen’s acupuncturist evaluated her condition and decided on a whole body approach to treatment. A total of 15 needles were used in both limbs for a total of 15 minutes each. “It felt a little strange at first, but once you realize it doesn’t hurt, you get used to it,” she said.

Her acupuncturist was so pleased with her response to treatment and her improved condition that short walks were prescribed after just 3 weeks. By this time the pain in her ankle and knee was almost completely gone. After just 6 sessions, Maureen was pain free throughout her body and her Acupuncture treatments were over.
“Nothing has alleviated the pain of my arthritis like this,” she says. “These days, there’s no pain in my ankle or foot or my knees. I only get the occasional twinge in my hip when I turn in bed. I still can’t quite believe it, but I’m an absolute convert to the benefits of Acupuncture.”

MAINTENANCE CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS SUPPORTED BY RESEARCH

Chiropractic adjustments provide help and relief to thousands upon thousands of people daily. To get the most long-term benefit from their initial benefits received, patients would be well-advised to continue Chiropractic “maintenance adjustments” on a regular basis.

A study recently conducted and reported in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics shows that persons who received “maintenance” Chiropractic care after completing their initial care continued to experience a reduction in their disability.

Results showed that members of both groups experienced a similar reduction of pain and disability after their 30 days of Chiropractic care. After a nine month period, both groups were evaluated again. Findings showed two things.

One, both groups continued to experience a reduction of pain.

Two, while both groups had reduced pain, only the group members who had nine months of Chiropractic “maintenance adjustments” experienced a continued reduction in their disability. Those who did not receive “maintenance adjustments” returned to similar levels of disability they were experiencing prior to their initial adjustments.

Only the persons who received their regular “maintenance
adjustments” were able to maintain the functional improvements received during the initial care, according to the Index.
“Intensive spinal manipulation is effective for the treatment of chronic low back pain,”said the researchers. “This experiment suggests that maintenance spinal manipulations after intensive manipulative care may be beneficial to patients to maintain subjective post-intensive
treatment disability levels.”

STOP THE RINGING WITH ACUPUNCTURE

Relief for persons suffering from the annoying and ever-distracting sounds of tinnitus, known as ringing in the ears, can be achieved through the application of Acupuncture.

Each group member was given 10 Acupuncture treatments over a two-week period of time. Needle sites and number of points utilized varied from person to person.

Ringing in the ears affects millions, and new research data released by York University in England shows that 5 out of 6 patients in a recent study improved after just two weeks of treatment. Patients reported a drop in loudness and pitch as well as fewer hours affected by the tinnitus. Only the oldest member of the group did not respond in this fashion after only 10 treatments. Additionally, the majority of the group reported improved quality of sleep.

HEADACHE CLASSIFICATION

Primary Headache include tension–type, migraine, cervicogenic, and cluster headaches and are not caused by other underlying medical conditions. More than 90% of headaches are primary.

Secondary Headache result from other medical conditions, such as infection or increased pressure in the skull due to a tumor. These account for fewer than 10% of all headaches.

Descriptions of the Primary Headache Types:

1. Tension–type Headaches Tension type headaches are the most common, affecting upwards of 75% of all headache sufferers. As many as 90% of adults have had tension–type headache.

Tension–type headaches usually involve a steady ache, rather than a throbbing one, are described as a feeling of pressure or tightening, may last minutes to days, affect both sides of the head, and and do not worsen with routine physical activity. It may also be accompanied by photophobia or phonophobia (hypersensitivity to light and noise, respectively.). Nausea is usually absent. Some people get tension–type (and migraine) headaches in response to stressful events. Tension–type headaches may also be chronic, occurring frequently or daily. Psychologic factors have been overemphasized as causes of headaches.

Rebound Headache: Rebound headache may occur among people with tension–type headaches, as well as in those with migraines. It appears to be the result of taking prescription or nonprescription pain relievers daily or almost every day, contrary to directions on the package label. If prescription or nonprescription pain relievers are overused, headache may "rebound" as the last dose wears off, leading one to take more and more pills. This is a great reason to call your chiropractor. Break that cycle!

2. Cervicogenic Headaches Cervicogenic headache originates from disorders of the neck and is recognized as a referred pain in the head. Primary sensory afferents from the cervical nerve roots C1–C3 converge with afferents from the occiput and trigeminal afferents on the same second order neuron in the upper cervical spine. Consequently, the anatomical structures innervated by the cervical roots C1–C3 are potential sources of cervicogenic headache.

Cervical headache is often precipitated by neck movement and/or sustained awkward head positioning (such as painting the ceiling, or washing the floor) and can reproduced with pressure over the upper cervical or occipital region on the symptomatic side. It is often accompained by restricted cervical range of motion, ipsilateral neck, shoulder, or arm pain of a rather vague non-radicular nature or, occasionally, arm pain of a radicular nature.

3. Migraine Headaches Migraine headaches are less common than tension–type headaches. Nevertheless, migraines afflict 25 to 30 million people in the United States. As many as 6% of all men, and up to 18% of all women experience a migraine headache at some time.

Among the most distinguishing features is the potential disability accompanying the headache pain of a migraine: migraines may last 4-72 hours, are typically unilateral (60% of reported cases), throbbing, of moderate to severe intensity, and are aggravated by routine physical activity.

Nausea, with or without vomiting, and/or sensitivity to light and sound often accompany migraines. An "aura" may occur before head pain begins–– involving a disturbance in vision, and/or an experience of brightly colored or blinking lights in a pattern that moves across the field of vision. About one in five migraine sufferers experiences an aura.

Usually, migraine attacks are occasional, or sometimes as often as once or twice a week, but rarely occur daily.

4. Cluster Headaches Cluster headaches are relatively rare, affecting about 1% of the population. They are distinct from migraine and tension–type headaches. Most cluster headache sufferers are male –– about 85%.

Cluster headaches come in groups or clusters lasting weeks or month. The pain is extremely severe but the attack is brief, lasting no more than a hour or two. The pain centers around one eye, and this eye may be inflamed and watery. There may also be nasal congestion on the affected side of the face.

These "alarm clock" headaches may strike in the middle of the night, and often occur at about the same time each day during the course of a cluster. A history of heavy smoking and drinking is common, and alcohol often triggers attacks.

BLIND FROM BIRTH, A WOMAN’S VISION RETURNS AFTER CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS!!

People who have been around the Chiropractic profession for a while sometimes get rather accustomed to seeing astounding results. Still, the success story of Laura Hattier and the lifechanges for her following Chiropractic adjustments is one for the books.

When Laura was born, she was completely blind. The doctors told her parents there was no hope that her eyesight would ever develop. Her problem was called congenital nystagmus, a condition where the eye experiences involuntary shaking and causes severe vision loss.

This situation did not stop Laura from working to achieve in life. As a child her vision did improve somewhat, but she was still unable to play or read like normal children. “When I was a child, I would look in an adult textbook and all I could see were dots,” Laura said. “I thought, ‘Wow, grown-ups are really special to be able to look at dots and get words out of that!’”

By the time Laura turned 16, her vision had improved some more, but she was still legally blind. Doctors continued to tell her there was no hope for her condition. Additionally, she began suffering from severe stomach ulcers.

However, Laura did not let that stop her. She decided to enter a teen beauty pageant, and
she won. That event changed her life and opened doors that would have otherwise remained closed. “That was the best thing about my teenage years,” she said.
Sometime later, Laura’s life was about to take another amazing turn!

When Laura entered college, she took a part time job in a Chiropractic office in Delmar,
Delaware. The doctor, Donald Hattier, suggested that he give her an adjustment. This is when her life turned on a dime. In fact, after her first adjustment, her ulcers disappeared and her vision began to improve. It happened that fast.

As the story continues, Laura went on through school and got to the point where she submitted her official resignation at the Chiropractic office. It was at this time that Dr. Donald asked her out on a date. The happy story continues with the two of them now married and the parents of four children.

At age 39, Laura is living the life she never thought possible. Her vision has improved to
20/50. She is able to take care of her family and run daily errands. “I can pick my kids up from school, I can drive my kids to church and I can go to the grocery store for my family,” she said. “I am truly thankful for that.”

CANCER INFO FROM JOHN HOPKINS

******NOTE THIS IS A COPY OF A RECENT EMAIL I RECEIVED.
*****OBVIOUSLY, YOU MUST GET PROPER ADVICE FOR YOU FROM YOUR OWN PHYSICIAN.********

Subject: Cancer info from John Hopkins

I THINK EVERYONE WILL FIND THIS VERY INFORMATIVE. I ONLY WISH IT WAS AS EASY TO FOLLOW AS IT IS TO UNDERSTAND. (Forwarded by Tony Costa)

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY ("TRY", BEING THE KEY WORD) TO ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins :

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person
has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone
marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder.
By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc. are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide
live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners,
instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your life

DOUBLE YOUR WEIGHT LOSS WITH ACUPUNCTURE

Obesity in America has reached epidemic proportions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state the percentage of people who meet the definition of obesity has

In the control group, patients were instructed to follow a restricted diet and were also asked to follow an aerobic exercise program that required between 20 and 30 minutes of walking, cycling or swimming three times per week.

Patients in the Acupuncture group were asked to follow the same diet and exercise program as the control group, but also received 20 minutes of Acupuncture twice per week for five weeks. In addition, a small patch containing a stainless steel pellet was taped over the hunger point of each ear, and worn for the duration of the study. Patients were asked to press on the pellets for one minute upon waking, before each meal or snack, and at other times in the morning and afternoon.

Patients in the Acupuncture group lost an average 10.6 pounds per person. Patients who followed the diet and exercise program, but who were not treated with Acupuncture, only lost an average of 5.3 pounds over the same period of time. Nine Acupuncture patients lost OVER 11 pounds during the course of treatment!!!

Acupuncture is obviously effective in addition to regular exercise and a sensible diet in the promotion of weight loss.

ACUPUNCTURE EFFECTIVELY REPLACES DRUG THERAPY

Acupuncture is finding its place in the emergency room, not
only to ease patients’ pain and anxiety, but also as an effective
treatment and means to reduce the need for drugs.

Acupuncture is being used in treating emergency room patients at Phoenix Memorial
Hospital since 1997 with Acupuncture to supplement western medicine for conditions ranging from head and back pain, to anxiety, depression and stress-related illnesses, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

A 6-month study of Acupuncture treatments used on more than 100 ER patients in 1999-2000. Among the 16 patients who sought treatment for headache pain, 62% were pain-free or experienced 80% relief after the Acupuncture treatment; of 77 patients with fractures, strains or sprains, 30% were pain-free (or almost so) after the Acupuncture — which was administered before casting, when the patient’s pain level is typically severe; and 42% of the patients who had pain from toothache, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or tennis elbow, said Acupuncture totally eliminated the pain when drug treatment hadn’t worked.

The study shows that Acupuncture treatments not only helped ease the patients’ pain and anxiety, but also eliminated the need for medication in some of the cases.

MOST EFFECTIVE TREATMENTS FOR NECK AND BACK PAIN

A recent study compared Acupuncture and Chiropractic treatment to traditional medical drug treatment for chronic back pain. A total of 115 people participated in the study through a public hospital's multidisciplinary spinal pain unit between February 1999 and October 2001 participated in the study.

Each patient was examined by a medical doctor specializing in sports medicine for exclusion criteria and then by researchers for back pain, neck pain, pain intensity and range of motion. Each patient also completed a health questionnaire.

Patients were randomly assigned to either a Chiropractic, Acupuncture or drug treatment group. Pain intensity and range of motion were measured at two, five,
and nine-week intervals once the treatment began.

Patients in the Chiropractic group reported early recovery more often than patients in the other groups. A higher degree of overall improvement was noted by 50% of Chiropractic patients in all areas of back pain.

Acupuncture rated the highest for alleviating neck pain. Once again Chiropractic and Acupuncture, were proven more effective treatments for back and neck pain than traditional medical modalities, such as drugs.

CONTROL YOUR APPETITE AND LOSE WEIGHT THROUGH ACUPUNCTURE

Researchers studied the effectiveness of Acupuncture on weight loss in a series of studies. They wanted to determine if Acupuncture could help decrease the weight of patients with arthritis in order to reduce the stress on weight-bearing joints.

The most impressive of the studies in this series was the third study which was conducted on 19 obese patients with arthritis of the knee. These patients took part in a diet and exercise regimen and were treated with electroacupuncture, where low currents of electricity are sent to the needles.

Results showed that 89% of participants lost 5 to 10 kg(11-22 pounds!!) following treatment. Results of this study show that acupuncture treatment is effective in controlling appetite, which makes losing weight much easier.

ACUPUNCTURE CAN CORRECT FETAL POSITION AND PREVENT BREECH BIRTHS

When a baby is not in the proper position for birthing it can lead to a breach birth or even a C-Section. This Fetal position can be corrected through Acupuncture
treatments.
A study showed that Sixty-seven pregnant women with babies in the fetal
breech position were randomly chosen for the Acupuncture
group or the non-treatment group.

Women who received Acupuncture were more likely to have the fetus move to the proper position for delivery than women who did not receive any treatment.
Fetal position was corrected in 76.4% of women who received Acupuncture. Those women who were not treated only had a 45.4% fetal correction rate.

Acupuncture is a safe and effective alternative to surgery and reduces the risk of complications resulting from breech births.

ACUPUNCTURE & JAW (TMJ) PAIN

Movements of the lower jaw result in pain for a significant number of people. A study recently in Great Britain shows that Acupuncture may provide relief for those plagued by this discomfort.

The official name for this condition is temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD). Temporomandibular refers to the joint where the skull near the temples and the jaw bone (mandible) meet.

After just a single treatment, 51 members of the group reported a beneficial effect. Each patient went on to receive several treatments, lasting approximately twelve minutes each. Treatment focused on Acupuncture points near the temporomandibular joint and the surrounding muscles leading into the neck.

the average pain score decreased by almost five points after receiving Acupuncture. The results of the studied showed that Acupuncture is effective to eliminate TMD pain in a dental practice. The researchers described Acupuncture as a simple, relatively safe, potentially efficacious and a useful technique in the management of TMD.

ACCIDENTAL ACUPUNCTURE DISCOVERY AIDS ADDICTION

An accidental discovery of Acupuncture beating addictions happened on day in early 1970 in China. Dr. Wen,the only neurosurgeon at that time in all of South China and Hong Kong, was preparing a patient for surgery. He was using Electro-Acupuncture as a surgical analgesia. The patient reported that all of his withdrawal symptoms from opium had disappeared.

Dr. Wen immediately cancelled the surgery and found some other patients on substance withdrawal and duplicated his pre-op procedures on them. Their symptoms also ceased, and the use of Acupuncture as a tool in treating modern substance abuse was born.

What Acupuncture does for detoxification is this: (1) it reduces the physical symptoms of withdrawal, (2) it relieves anxiety, insomnia and depression, and (3) it profoundly relieves withdrawal symptoms including cravings, body aches, headache, nausea, sweating and muscle cramps.

Treatment usually involves daily Acupuncture for the first two weeks, followed by three treatments per week for several weeks and then cut down to two per week for several weeks to follow. Final treatments are received one time per week. If a relapse occurs or something stressful happens, more treatments are recommended.

B.E.S.T. Holistic Care

B.E.S.T. is a technique which is widely used by health care practitioners all over the world who practice mind/body healing, and who recognize that the body is more than the sum of its parts.

It's a system of health care that is truly state-of-the-art in balancing Body/Mind/ Memory/Soul energy fields. When these energy fields are out of balance, symptoms develop and health deteriorates. Many factors affect the body's state of balance.

Emotional issues of the past as well as the choices that we have made, or currently make in six essential areas: what we eat and drink; how we exercise and rest; what we breathe; and what we think all affect our energy field balance. When these systems are out of balance, they become exhausted. Symptoms such as pain and disease often develop.

Did You Know That Pain Has A Purpose

Pain is the body's alarm system, alerting you that there is something wrong.

Pain alerts the body to start the healing process. Pain from accidents or injuries ? a cut, broken bone, torn cartilage, dislocated joint, or other physical injury ? isn't bad. This pain helps to direct healing energy to the area it is needed by your body.

The fastest way for your body to stop hurting is to balance the energy fields.

This will allow you to repair and rebuild your damaged, painful condition. Often, an immediate response to the Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.) procedure is relief from the pain. This will help you feel as good as possible as soon as possible.

However, many of the people that are here to have their bodies balanced don't necessarily have pain. Our experience has shown that by keeping your body balanced, it not only can get rid of pain, but more importantly, it will allow your body to function much more efficiently and actually repair and rebuild the damage from nutritional, physical, or mental stress.

Emotions and thoughts play a big role in your health.

Think about something that you really hate or someone that really bothers you. It is actually possible to increase your heart rate, tense up your shoulders, bring on a headache, or make you sick to your stomach by just thinking about it! Or, try this:

Think about a bright yellow lemon. See it in your mind's eye. See the yellow skin. Now, picture cutting it with a knife right down the middle. Then squeeze it into a spoon. Now, slowly place the spoon of lemon juice into your mouth on top of your tongue and swallow it! Can you see how what you can think can actually change your bodily function? Did you swallow from the sour juice?

Your thinking (mental stress) can change the way your body functions.

That can be either positive or negative depending on your thoughts. What you think about is probably the most important factor in regard to your overall health.

Your body was designed to survive.

It is important to understand that everything the body does is for the sole purpose of survival right now. It isn't designed to be sick or healthy. It is designed to survive the conditions of the moment, and it deals with these conditions by responding to the greatest threat to survival first. We call this top priority.

You may feel terrible, but your body is doing the best it can under the circumstances that you provide for it.

If something isn't done to update the current status of the threat, it may keep responding over and over until that particular system becomes exhausted. That's when you have symptoms like pain or disease.

B.E.S.T. updates physical and emotional memory.

By touching certain pressure points, in the proper sequence, and having you think about specific memory stress, we have found that your body begins to re-communicate with your brain. Of course, your brain controls all functions in your body. When they work together, body balance, restoration of health, and feeling good are welcome results.

When the procedure is finished, your legs should measure even in length; your arms will be strong. This means that your body is balanced. Clinical experience has shown that by stimulating these specific pressure points as part of the Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.) procedure, that your body can not only begin to feel better, but can actually begin to repair and rebuild.

The rebuilding and repairing are the necessary steps to regaining good, pain-free health. By combining your improved choices in those six essential areas with this updated mind/body balance, a winning combination is certain to follow. By taking this approach, you are taking steps to learn to maintain this balance in the days, weeks, and months to follow.

With the Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.) approach, we believe that there are virtually no conditions that your body cannot overcome or show improvement in. By balancing your body with B.E.S.T. we are attempting to do everything we can to allow your body to heal, to repair, to rebuild, and to again gain health.

Take it one step at a time.

Changes in the choices that we make in the six essential areas must happen gradually. The nutritional changes can often be the most uncomfortable, and the thinking changes the most difficult.

Take your time, and ask for help, it's what we do to help support and encourage you!

For nutritional stress, we recommend natural, whole food supplementation to help you and will include specific recommendations when you're ready to start a program.

Programs are typically just 90-days and in that period, you have time to slowly adjust to a more healthy approach and indeed, improve your heath dramatically.

Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.) is an excellent complement to your program and highly effective at alleviating pain and rebalancing the body quickly.

Use of Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.)

Dr. Jeff Albright is is a holistic healthcare practitioner who is certified as a Diplomate of Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.). He offers this technique as part of a individual, customized holistic approach to pain and stress management program with considerable success. Treatments take a maximum of just 15 minutes.

New doctor makes old-style "house calls"

Dr. Jeff Albright, DC specializes in Japanese acupuncture, an art he learned while living in Japan.

Local doctor, Jeff Albright, DC is doing something that hasn't seen the light of day since the 1960s.

Dr. Albright now offers doctor's "house calls" to the residents of Castle Pines Village. A few days per week, Dr. Albright arrives at peoples' front doors with a big smile and an old-style, black leather doctor's bag in hand.

There is just one big difference. Instead of being filled with prescription medications and syringes, Dr. Albright's bag is filled with natural healing remedies and acupuncture needles.

Dr. Albright uses a number of natural healing methods, but specializes in Japanese Acupuncture, an art he learned while living in Japan for more than five years.

Each house call usually includes a combination of Japanese Acupuncture, gentle chiropractic adjustments and other bodywork. When Dr. Albright comes to your home, you have his undivided attention.

There are many benefits to a doctor making house calls. The most obvious of which is probably patient convenience. But more than that, house calls provide additional privacy and anonymity for patients who prefer such.

Almost everyone has at one time or another had that awkward experience of running into a neighbor or colleague in a doctor's waiting room and having to address the inappropriate, yet, often asked question, "So, what's wrong with you?"

A less obvious benefit of making house calls is the avoidance of an increasingly common disorder sometimes referred to as white coat syndrome. It is a kind of anxiety that some people only experience when they are in a doctor's office.

White coat syndrome can produce temporary high blood pressure, a racing heart or even panic attacks that, if misdiagnosed, can lead to the unnecessary prescribing of medication.

He got the idea of offering house calls a few weeks ago when one of his patients had hurt his spine so severely that the patient physically couldn't get to his office. Dr. Albright agreed to treat him in the patient's own living room several days in a row.

He then wondered how many other people either can't get to his office or require more privacy than a typical doctor's office provides. Currently, he is offering his house call service to residents of Castle Pines Village, but hopes to expand that service in the future to the Castle Rock community.

Dr. Albright holds a Bachelor's of Art in Japanese Language, a Bachelor's of Science in Human Biology, a Doctorate in Chiropractic and is also Colorado Board Certified in Acupuncture.

He has been practicing since 2003 and frequently returns to Japan to further his study of Japanese Acupuncture. Having practiced both in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas, Dr. Albright split the difference and moved his practice to Castle Rock in 2007.

"It seemed like a good middle ground geographically. I have patients from both regions coming to see me regularly. Castle Rock seemed like the natural choice." In fact, many patients travel well over an hour and pass dozens of other similarly trained physicians to be treated by Dr. Albright. According to one of his patients, "He's that good."

One of the most common questions Dr. Albright is asked is how is Japanese acupuncture different than Chinese acupuncture? "Japanese acupuncture generally involves thinner and smaller needles," says Dr. Albright. Japanese acupuncture also tends to employ shallower - but not less effective - insertions than Chinese acupuncture.

In his experience, patients find Japanese acupuncture treatments more relaxing and cause significantly less discomfort than the more common form of acupuncture. Often, patients are not even aware that he's placed needles on their body.

"That is not in any way meant to put down Chinese acupuncturist," say Dr. Albright, "Chinese acupuncture is also a very effective healing art."

Dr. Albright firmly believes that healers have a tendency to attract the kind of patients they are most able to help. Recently, he has been attracting a lot of patients with immune deficiency disorders, hormone imbalances and chronic pain syndromes like fibromyalgia.

He says he gets very good results with those kinds of individuals. "In our office we pride ourselves on providing a loving, compassionate, supportive environment. It gives me great pride to help people like these get out of pain and regain their health."

Dr. Albright was especially touched when he was informed a few weeks ago that he had been voted "Best of Castle Rock 2007" for both acupuncture and chiropractic.

When not healing people and relieving people of their chronic health problems, Dr. Albright and his wife, Miho, spend several evenings a week teaching adults and teenagers the Japanese martial art of Aikido. About half of their students are over age forty, which some find surprising.

However, Dr. Albright recommends that his patients consider practicing Aikido to help maintain their health and fitness. One of his students has lost over 35 pounds since beginning Aikido just three months ago.

If you don't live in Castle Pines Village, Dr. Albright is still accepting new patients at his holistic health clinic in downtown Castle Rock. His office is located at 405 South Wilcox Street, Suite 105 on the southwest corner of Wilcox Street and Plum Creek Parkway. You can call his office, Rocky Mountain Wellness, Inc., at 303-929-2115 or visit their web site at www.rockymtnwellness.com.

Clinic Helps End Chronic Pain

If you suffer from muscle pain, feel irritable, and can't shake that feeling of fatigue, you may be one of the thousands of undiagnosed people suffering from Fibromyalgia - a disease that is often misunderstood and only recently diagnosed.

Fibromyalgia is the diagnosis of whole-body pain, said Dr. Jeff Albright, a Doctor of Chiropractic with Rocky Mountain Wellness at 405 S. Wilcox St. #105 in Castle Rock. It affects the fibrous connective tissues and soft tissues in the body, and can be very debilitating when full-blown.

"There are set guidelines for the diagnosis, but there are trigger points that are associated with it." Albright said. "The problem is that it's not understood by a lot of practitioners... although it's getting to be more well-known. The actual diagnosis came about seven or eight years ago."

Dr. Albright will be the speaker at a free workshop on Fibromyalgia, scheduled for 12 noon on April 16th at the conference room at 405 S. Wilcox. "We want to help people understand what it is, how it affects you and what can be done to get relief," he said.

Fibromyalgia is more prevalent in women than in men. Studies show that 90 percent of patients diagnosed are female, Albright said. The disease is characterized by generalized pain in the neck, shoulders, arms, lower back and legs. But there's tons of associated symptoms that go along with it, including sleep problems, digestive problems and irritability and fatigue.

"There's a lot of things that have been tried and are in the works (to treat Fibromyalgia) including medication and physical therapy," Albright said. "Chiropractors have been getting more involved and have been successful in dealing with it." Albright added that studies show Chiropractic & Acupuncture in addition to medication have been more effective in treating the disease than just medications alone.

"There are lifestyle changes that need to be made with the patients to treat the disease and that's what most people don't realize, including diet, exercise and supplementation," he said. "We want to educate as many people as we can about what's going on."

Albright said the free seminar is for anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia or has any of the symptoms, that would like to know more about what they can do to get over these problems.

Seating is limited to the first 10 people to sign up for the workshop and reservations are required. If you would like to attend, or would like more information, contact Rocky Mountain Wellness by calling 303-322-5015 or visit www.rockymtnwellness.com.

Changes In Nature Effecting Us

Considering how much we are effected by our natural environment that I see more and more people presenting with symptoms of stress at the change of seasons.
The great seas and oceans tides are controlled by the magnetic effects as well. Being made up of over 70% water it is little surprise that we too are effected. It is often said that even a woman's cycle will be somewhat controlled by the phases of the moon. We even see that the emergency rooms and the police are much busier during the full moon.

The environment we live in is changing. It has been documented that we are exposed to over 220,000 neurotoxins every day just from going through our normal day here in the U.S. Since the late 90's it has been documented that even our drinking water shows signs of having prescription medications in it.

Here in the U.S. we have found astronomical changes in the rate of obesity, which now climbs above 60% of all citizens. Over the past decade rates of allergies, auto-immune diseases, multiple sclerosis etc, have sky-rocketed. We spend more on health care than any other industrialized nation yet are no where near being the healthiest country in the world.

With all of this going on it is not surprising that changes in nature our forefathers went through with no problem, are now being perceived as a stress by our bodies.
If you have noticed an increase in headaches, fatigue, pain, sleep disorders, digestive trouble, irritability, or sinus/allergy difficulties, you are not alone. I have seen a tremendous increase in patients presenting with these symptoms, as these are the major symptoms of stress.

Of course, there is much that can be done to relieve these irritating symptoms. I look forward to presenting more on how these may be approached in a natural, healthy way. For now, I might suggest looking at our forefathers for wisdom and insight on how they coped and thrived despite harsh conditions. It seems that they would always look to nature and try to follow whatever she was doing and trying to teach them. They would eat whatever was in season. They would spend much more time outdoors than modern society allows us. They lived a much slower pace, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

I will share more in future entries about my own approach to maintaining my health, and living a lifestyle in balance with the natural changes that abound.

MAYO CLINIC: “ACUPUNCTURE RELIEVES FIBROMYALGIA!”

A significant study conducted under the watchful eye of Mayo Clinic researchers has clearly demonstrated that Acupuncture brings relief to fibromyalgia sufferers. These are very positive findings for individuals who wish to avoid a reliance on drugs to treat the pain caused by this condition.

“This study shows there is something real about Acupuncture and its effects on fibromyalgia,” said Dr. David Martin, the Mayo Clinic anesthesiologist who was the study’s lead investigator.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder with symptoms that include widespread pain, tenderness and stiffness in the muscles. It is generally accompanied by fatigue, headache and sleep disturbances.

Following the initial treatments, symptoms of pain, fatigue and anxiety were most significantly improved in the patients given Acupuncture. These patients experienced the largest improvements one month after their care ended. At the seventh-month follow-up interview, some patients reported that their discomfort had returned if no additional Acupuncture care had been administered.

“Acupuncture usually works for about three months, and then patients need a less-intensive treatment session. These patients would need more acupuncture periodically for as long as they experience fibromyalgia symptoms.”

Taking Title to Heart

Dr. Albright takes his titles to heart. In Japan, the title of Sensei means more than we suspect here in the states.

Being called Sensei is more than just an instructor. It means that you are a friend, a confidant, a coach, and even a mentor. As a matter of fact, Sensei means one who has gone before and is used to describe public school teachers, attorneys, medical doctors, counselors etc.It is used as a symbol of respect for pretty much anyone who has spent time and effort to attain a level of professionalism.

The term doctor, actually means teacher, and Dr.Albright takes pride in empowering his clients with knowledge of what they can do to help them selves, and gives his best advice in regards to what care they need.

In order to expand his role, and make it easier for clients to attain the insight, and inspiration they need to move forward toward their health and life goals he has finally done.

Yes. Even the Renaissance Man has finally done it. He has come out of the dark ages, and launched three new blogs to keep you up to date on all that is going on.

Dr. Albright has begun
RockyMTNwellness.blogspot.com, drjeffalbright.blogspot.com, and craikido.blogspot.com. You will also see him soon on www.whosyoursensei.com and whosyoursensei.blogspot.com. These will keep you apprised of all aspects of wellness & personal development through his respective companies.

HEALTHY HOLIDAY HABITS

In the midst of the holiday season, when stress and strain

may be at their peak, the American Chiropractic
Association (ACA) offers some advice for staying happy,
health and safe this holiday season.

· Stay hydrated: Coffee, tea, soft drinks and alcohol are
dehydrators, so remember to replenish your body with at
least eight, 8-ounce glasses of water per day.

· Stay active: Stress causes muscles to tighten so
remember get up and stay moving. Walking is a good
way to relieve stress.

· Stay comfortable: Wear comfortable shoes for all the
walking involved with holiday shopping and wear two layers
of clothing to accommodate for the difference in indoor
and outdoor temperatures.

· Lighten the load: Wear a light waist pack instead of
carrying a heavy purse; bring only what is absolutely
essential. To reduce the load you are carrying, try to plan
trips to your car and don't carry around more than is
absolutely necessary.

· Take breaks and eat right: Sit down and rest about every
45 minutes. Eat light foods such as salads or fruits during
your breaks. Don't forget to drink water.

"Our bodies have the capacity to do a little more than we
normally do, but our bodies do not adapt every well to
doing
a lot more than we normally do," said Dr. Scott Butch, past
president of the ACE Council on Occupational Health.
"Since the added demands of the season can stress the
capacity of our bodies, we need to do everything we can to
help ourselves. Eat right, drink plenty of water, stretch,
exercise and take a few minutes to slow down and reflect
on what the season is all about."

As the holiday season draws near we think of people we love. We often show our love by giving them a gift.

There are people you know, family and friends,, for whom our care could make a difference between suffering or enjoying life. Perhaps you know someone with arthritis, headaches, pain, fatigue, hormone problems, digestive issues, allergies, etc.

Would you please help us to help them by allowing us to provide a holiday card for free and a gift certificate from you to send to them. We will provide the cards, gift certificates and postage for free.

For many this will be the most valuable gift they get this year.

KEEP ON YOUR TOES WITH CHIROPRACTIC

RECHARGE YOUR BATTERIES

Blockages of energy flows in the body have long been recognized by practitioners of Oriental Medicine as the cause of reduced health and disease. This "life force energy" that flows through the body, known as Ki (pronounced key) is responsible for illness when it is not flowing properly.

Fatigue is one such blockage problem that can be successfully treated with Acupuncture. Whether a person subscribes to a Western definition of Acupuncture helping due to a release of endorphins in the brain, or the Eastern thinking that has Ki now flowing freely through the body's meridians -- what's most important is that Acupuncture helps the condition.

Mainly, I think we are stretched too thin, over taxing our energy resources, or draining our batteries.
